bare spots after a month and a half

The question is will the bare spots be covered by the already growing grass? I am thinking this area got to much water. Should I buy a WHOLE new bag of seeds (which I rather not do)?Grass 50/50 yukon riviera
Okay So after a lot of research, and finally deciding to fill my back yard with lush grass. and went with the most expensive seed I could afford to cover a 1000sqft area and got 4lbs (I used about 3.5lbs first after seeing I had many bare spots after 3 weeks I use the rest on the middle area) I am having problems with huge bare spots. It has been well over a month since getting the ground ready, pretty much leveled slightly tilled in products suggested after getting soil tested, and sewing the seed mix. Not very satisfied with the results with big patches I though buying high grade seeds would yield better results. the first 2 weeks I watered for about 10-13 minutes in the morning and about 7 minutes around 1pm to keep the ground moist. after 3 weeks I cut back to a 6 min in the morning and 6 in the afternoon. I mowed at week 4 (gas was about 3 inches) the highest setting on my mower (it took about half a inch or less) , then dropped it and mowed again 6 days later.

cap8e, I assume you are talking about bermudagrass because that is the forum in which you posted. Establishment from seed is slow and variable. A very light coating of straw mulch will help hold things together. You say you planted 3.5 pounds in 100 square feet which is an extremely high rate. Do you still have bare spots?

yes it is Bermuda 50/50 yukon & rivera. Its was actually 1000sf sorry about that. I wish I could up load pics but. its not just a spot its about the size of two kiddie swimming pools grass is growing well all around it but nothing but a few weeds in that area. if it was just a few small spots all over I would not be worried..

What is your state or latitude? You might do better to get some pieces of sod of Tifway or Celebration or other local improved cultivar, cut them up with a machete as 3-4 inch square plugs and plant them on 2-foot centers.

Bare spots are a pain. It seems like you want to stay with Bermuda. So, you may want to consider sod the area that has difficulty seeding. If you choose to go that route, lightly till the area, but don’t go very deep. (Maybe 1 to 1 1/2 inch).Try a different variety of Bermuda other than what you’ve tried. I’ve got

I’ve got Bermuda 419 (Tifway) in my yard. It has a dense growing characteristic and spreads quite well. You may want to try that variety. That’s the variety they use in the sports complexes. i don’t know if that variety is sold where you area. I live in Central Florida.
