Burmuda sod

We laid Bermuda sod about two months ago, followed watering instructions and it looked great. Well, on Sept 13 we had to take an unexpected two week trip and when we got back the sod looks more brown than green. I started watering early mornings again for about 45 minutes but it’s almost a week later and I don’t see any improvement. Will the sod green up again or will we have to resod. Located in southeast Oklahoma.

After all of that work and money spent on your yard—I can only hurt for you.To answer your question your Bermuda rebounding from it not being watered for two weeks, I don’t think so. It takes from 6 weeks to two months to get anchored and established. That is the most critical time that will make or break freshly sodded yard of any kind, even Bermuda. You may get a few sprigs come up, but I doubt it. If you take up a piece of the Bermuda sod you may see a couple of dead roots and a thin layer of that is the only supporting what was going to be a beautiful Bermuda lawn.Just a suggestion if you want to sod again, sod earlier in the year. Start late April to June. You’ll see a better success rate and a better recovery for the rest of the growing season. Good luck!!!
