Any Atlanta area zoysia owners suspect winterkill?

I usually have 100% green-up by May 1st. The areas near the street and my driveway — where the driving surface retains warmth — are green and lush. But the rest of the yard is sparsely green. I also had what I thought was a minor spittle bug investation last summer — maybe it was worse than I thought??? Sorry no pictures. Any theories or similar experiences?

My zoysia in Marietta is almost all green — just some areas that don’t get enough sun are still transitioning.

My zoysia in Dunwoody is about 100% green.

Maybe you have some thatch buildup and the new growth is not getting through the thatch yet.
