Aeration Frequency

is there a minimum number of times a year to aerate or does it totally depend on field conditions? We have two 419 fields that are side by side. One sits significantly higher and dries out quickly due to wind and slope. This field is concrete. The lower field is soft.

I aerate my yard 2 to 4 times a year. I use one of our machines from work, so its free for me. The only down side is weed germination. I dont think you can aerate too much, although your back may disagree!!

Soil conditions dictate frequency of aeration. A good top soil with lots of earth worms- may never need aeration! Sports fields however, should be aerified a couple of times a year- even with good soil types. If excessive hardness on the surface is a constant problem, consider top dressing with crumb rubber after aerification.
