Aerating, pre-emergant, sand leveling

ok I have a hybrid bermuda (tifway 419?). I am in oklahoma and it is already starting to green!
1.) When should I aerate my lawn?
2.)When should I use pre-emergant. I already have some weeds so should I skip P.E. and get some other type of weed killer?I have an outside dog, is there any stuff that is safe for him?
3.) My yard has a bunch of dips and slopes in it. Should I just fill it in with some coarse sand? WHen is the best time to do this?
Thanks guys, this is my first home and I didn’t know that it would be this much work!

I am from sounthern NJ so bermuda is not my primary turf concern. Actually I am more intrested in getting rid of it.
However, I would wait until the turf is fully growing to help speed recovery from the aeration and sand levelling.
I would put the preM down soon and then again after the aeration is healed. Wait until the turf is recovered and growing before attempting any weed eradication.
How about thatch removal? You may consider that when aerating.
Just some thoughts of mine. Maybe a Bermuda guy would know better so lets see what they say.
Thanks

1. Yes, apply the pre-emergent. It is one of the best weed control options you have. Our golf course in FL applies pre-emergent three times per year.
2. Aeration may help your yard but may not be necessary.
3. Lightly sand the low spots every couple of weeks and slowly build them up.
4. Can you spot spray the weeds or are they to spread out?
5. Don’t fertilize until you kill the weeds. The fertilizer will just make the weeds grow faster.
6. Over the counter herbicides should be safe for your dog. You could always get one that should be watered in and apply it then water it in thus making your canine double safe.
7. I am like Cohiba, I generally try to kill bermuda (except at our golf course).

wont sand fly all over the place when you mow over it after putting it in low spots?

Put it down after you mow. Water it in and after a few days you will not notice it is there. The turf will grow around and through it.
Topdressing is best done while turf is actively growing.
