A Lawn in Houston

Anyone have any suggestions on a type of bladed grass that will grow well in east TX. I currently have St. Augustine, and really do not consider this grass. I grew up in the Northeast. I know fescus won’t grow here, but trying to get a little info on Zoysia, and if I need to kill the current lawn or if I can do a “plug over” type of deal.

zoysia grows ok in houston- you’ll have to kill of the st. aug with roundup then sod from scratch. you probably should just stick with st. aug. you could also use bermuda.

would it be a kill and resod with Bermuda as well?

if you want to go with bermuda , then you’ll have to roundup the st. aug. and sod with bermuda. this is standard procedure for any type of turfgrass. lots more bermuda in the area than zoysia, particularly up north.
