I want to try this corn meal solution for my St. Augustine that is turning brown and dying. So how do I apply it. Should the grass be watered first or should I apply the corn meal and then water or apply and not water?

Are you SURE it’s the fungus that’s killing your SA?
20lbs of cornmeal per 1000sqft will work but I use it more of preventative than cure. It takes 3 weeks to reach maximum effectiveness. YOu can use garlic tea (found in several organic oriented garden stores) to kill them. POTASSIUM bicarbonate will also take care of them immediately but from now on every 2-3 months use corn meal to prevent that from happening.
Get some compost and spread on the damaged area as well. This will help restore beneficial microbes that might have been killed off.
I usually just throw corn meal on my lawn and then water them in well.

20 pounds of cornmeal will make a (slew) of hushpuppies. Save it for the fish fry. First find out what is damaging your turf then take the correct methods to alleviate the problem. If you know a super or an ass’t super on a golf course take a sample of your turf to him. Otherwise take a sample to your local county extension service agent.
