I own a 20″ McLain and was curious as to whether a 20″ Verticut reel is available as an aftermarket option? I know the reels can be changed out on golf course mowers for verti-cutting and was wondering if the McLane was adaptable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On Golf Course mowers the entire cutting unit is switched out not just the reel. Is this for a back yard putting green? I would try to hook up with a superintendent that owns a Graden verticutter. The Graden will do all that you need. If this is for a regular lawn then a trip to the rental center will suffice. Try a Ryan Mataway seeder.

Thanks Cohiba. Will the seeder without the seed give me the same effect as a verticutter? It is not for a puting green however I keep my perenial ryegrass lawn @ 3/16th, I topdress frequently and was looking for something to thin out all the “junk” to go along with the topdressing. Thanks Brenden

I think it will be what your looking for. If not in one direction then do two. Don’t worry about tearing it up. P’ rye is really resilient. I know P’rye can take low HOC but 3/16″ is too ballsie for me. Do you have special water requirements?? How about disease? I thought Brown Patch would be an issue if too dense and too short.
Too have fairways like that!!!!

7/16th, not 3/16th is what its at. 3/16th is a little low for my turf. Sorry for the confusion.
