Hi- I was wondering what anyone’s thoughts are on this. We put some ironite on our lawn. Suggested by contractor in our new subdivision. I decided to look it up on the computer, there were many articles on the danger of ironite. Now I am a little freaked out! My kids play on the lawn, alot! I was told to put molasses on it to encourage microbial growth and to break down the ironite. Does anyone know if this will help and do I need to be as worried as I am? Any info would be helpful! Thanks

just put the ironite on it! once it’s watered in and dissolved it’s not a safety issue- it’s iron- it’s already in your body…

chemical issues are hugely overrated. i’ve actually had customers that asked me if lawn chemicals would hurt them as they had a cigarette in their mouth….

The ironite may contain arsenic which is the concern. Unless you children are in the habit of eating the dirt there should not be any issues.

Agree with Ted that most chemical concerns are over rated. The issue is dose size. Also, did you know that Permethrin (an insecticide) might be safer to drink than to rub on the skin?
