Does anyone have any relevant advice regarding blade sharpening on a rotary mower?

take it to a mower shop. have it done every month or two- it’s one of the most important turfgrass management tools you have. if you want to see what ablade of grass looks like when it’s cut correctly, snip it with a pair of scissors, then comapre to your mower….

you also need to balance the blade as well- your shop can help you.

I sharpen my own blade using a bench grinder. After watching the shop do it, I decided to try it myself. The shop I took it was a retail lawn shop as well as a comercial huge lawn service. The mechanic sharpened the blade, using a bench grinder and a nail on the wall to balance the blade. He would grind the appropriate side until blade was balanced. For a bit of news. I also asked the mechanic/technician, how much of the blade can be sharpened. He stated you can sharpen a blade down to 1/2 inch to 3/4. I was shocked. I have done it and it works.

Reels have to be sharpened by grinding on a special machine. You can probably have it backlaped and do what you need. But you can not do it yourself.
