I used to have a rich front yard of emerald zoysia, but in the last year I have noticed other grass invading it. A chem lawn company told me the invader was fescue and that it would be difficult to get rid of. I have tried to pull it up. Some comes out quite easily, but others have runners that are nearly impossible to pull out.

Any suggestions on how to kill it without damaging my zoysia?

You may have more than one weed, and a sure identification would help. Tall fescue is a bunch grass with no runners. Tall fescue can be reduced in zoysiagrass using Image (imazaquin).

If you have a fine-leaved fescue such creeping red fescue, then I don’t know what would help.
