I have lost the battle with cinch bugs and the little St Augustine left to me by the previous homeowner is now gone. I am interested in either seailse paspalum or celebration bermuda. The sod dealer said they are not recommending either for homeowners as they still require extra care not normally associated with residential lawns. Does anyone have any experience with either of these grass types?

nobargo to sodsolutions.com to read about celebration bermuda. i to am in the process of re-sodding the backyard. our lawn care professional is really pushing bermuda T10 to us. there is always the old staple 419.

i have seaisle in my back yard. its a huge pain in the ass, but it looks really good, even with lots of traffic from two big dogs. if you dont have plenty of time to manage it then dont get it because it will just look like crap and you wont be happy.

By “huge pain in the ass”, do you mean more physical labor or is there more chemical requirements to keep it growing? I don’t mind mowing, trimming and watering but I don’t want to have to learn agriscience.

lots of physical labor, which isnt a big deal, except for the weeds. i hand pull most of them, because very few chemicals are labeled for it, on the other hand, you can use all the salt that you want on seaisle to kill weeds, unless you are me, because i have lots of trees back there as well and dont want a bunch of salt in my soil. it just depends on what your situation is.

Thanks for the help! I live on a salt water canal so salt is the least of my worries. I have some test plugs that are at least surviving, although not yet spreading to fill in. Sodding will be easier.
