I just planted zoyia from the nursery in MD two weeks ago and I have nothing yet. Boy is it alot of work. I bought a one inch electrical auger from Home Depot to make the holes. This auger is five feet long. If you buy one of these and put it on your power drill you will be so happy. The auger I bought from the company broke within the first ten holes. My neighbors were looking at me as I was drilling the holes………..boy did I feel like nut. I was so embarrassed that I said a friend bought it for me and told me to plant it.I have another 20×30 section of lawn to do and I do not know if i should wait to see what happens or if i should buy more so I dont have to wait the whole summer to see if it will grow. Any ideas? I live in Lancaster, PA. Is there any place locally that I can buy this? If I do not have anything by June 15, 2005 you will see another post here.

Wow, you must have a lot of time on your hands. With best results you may have a full lawn in two seasons if everything goes perfectly.

Pennsylvania is pretty far North for Zoysia. I know there are cold hardy varieties, but you will still have a shorter growing season and dormant grass.

I live in Texas. Ideal warmth for Zoysia and I would never consider plugs. It just takes too long. Weeds have a good chance to establish in between the plugs because of the slow growth pattern of Zoysia. YES, I said it grows slow. Some people on this forum have said it is aggressively invasive. It is , after years and years. The aggressively invasive part starts after a well established lawn. It is very thick and crowds out weeds which is probably more indicitive of its aggressiveness. It will spread out and take over, but it will occur like a tortoise, not a hare.
