Help, after several years of very nice grass,some called it a carpet! We are having trouble with brown, thinning and weeds. Have tried and used several different types of fertilizer, have been told not to use any type of weed killer.

evonoliv, what kind of weeds: grasses, broadleaf or sedges?
Go slow on fertilizing zoysiagrass.

Have you explored the possibility that your zoysiagrass may have a disease or a fungus? As far as the weeds ago,m Scotts has a good line of products. You could try their turfbuilder with plus 2 on your lawn.
