Help! Installed 3 zoysia pallets 5 weeks ago. It was beautiful! Now its brown with a few blades of green. Part has rooted part has not. Watering 20 mins early morning and 20 mins late day. Some lawn guy came by and said it’s over watered and has a fungus. he didnt know it was zoysia! Please help me save it. I’m in tears!!

I would have suggested that you haven’t watered it enough. I remember when I had mine installed,the contractor instructed me to water it generously for the first week or so…so deeply that the ground is too saturated to walk on because the soil is so soft. But watering it twice a day five weeks after installation does seem too frequent. And 20 minutes is probably not watering deeply enough. So the fungus theory is conceivable. Call your installer to come back out and take a look. If you installed it yourself, find a knowledgable installation contractor to inspect it, pronto. Zoysia can look pretty bad and still make a recovery.

I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
