Zoysia

I cut out a piece of my yard and sent it to the Kentucky Research Center and the Dr. said that he could not find any diseases or anything wrong with the grass. He said that he thinks the yard is still somewhat dormant and a little slow to green up this year. He said that we have had 13 days of 80 F or above since March 1. He said that he drove by my house and that he just believe that it’s the weather that we are having this year. Could this be true, even though other zoysia yards are green by now?

I was taught here in the south that zoysia green first. Many Zoysia lawns here in bama are not looking good. I have seen zoysia this year that still had not turned green. I took samples to my agent how is a patholigest and he has been seeing a lot of take-all patch in Zoysia, and st. Aug. Other problems I have seen this year with zoysia is to much thatch. Many people have been maintaining zoysia to high and not applying fertilizer right. Brown patch has been pretty common and once zoysia gets brown patch or take all patch it may never recover. I could not say what problem you have and I think you need to look around. If all zoysia in your area is green then you have a disease problem.

what is “take-all?”i have z-52 in bahm, first growing season, and my front yard looks ok, but my back yard is about 50% brown and dead, and looks “soured”. do i need to resod the bad parts or is it going to come back. ive been using a turf prescription from a local fertilome/turf guru. i too, have tons of thach, although i dont know how after just 6 months of the sod being on the ground

This sod will be one year next week and I called the sod farm that I bought it from and they said they are having the same trouble. They are coming next week to look at it. I believe that they should replace the sod. I called another sod farm and said that the farm that I bought it from should replace it. What do yall think?
