Zeon Zoysia in South Texas

I am considering Zeon Zoysia for my shaddy backyard but am concerned about how it will do without lots of sun. Any ideas?

i think you’re too far south for zoysia- no grass will grow in total shade. try relandscaping or pruning the area.

I live about 20 miles north of San Antonio and have zeon zoysia, It’s GREAT! My lawn has areas under oak trees that only receives mid day sun and the zeon is lush.

Hi Cubguy,
Thank you for your response. I live in San Antonio and have heard good things about Zeon.

i am a comercial landscape contractor, accientally stumbled on this site and had to post, Zeon is a wonderful grass for this region, however ther are really no grasses that thrive well in shade, i would suggest if you must prune as best as you can (shade is a blessing down here) add i lot of sand in with the soil underneather so that water drains out properly, if you have anymore questions email me at gw**@ao*.com, be happy to help with any of your questions?

Where did you get Zeon from? I’ve never even heard of it.

I got my zeon from “Turf Dave” in San Antonio, I don’t remember the name of his business phone# 210-844-6553. He is located on loop 1604 just east of 281 if you are in S.A.
