would you recommend image with atrazine?

I bought a herbicide called “Image with Atrazine”. It’s in Concentrate liquid form. I read that it’s a good post-emergence for use onSt. Augustine.
My lawn is St. Augustine and I live in Florida. My lawn is heavily infested with creeping woodsorrel, and dollar weed. I want to use it soon to control those weeds.
Do you recommend it? Or should I get something else?

I am wondering the same thing. I also live in Florida (Central) and all the Lawn Weed Killers say not to use on Floratam grass. Image is the only product I’ve seen that appears to be safe for Floratam. I haven’t bought it yet, but seriously considering. If you end up using it, please let me know how it worked. Thanks! Kye

IK l,ive in SW Florida and have St Augustine with crabgrass and other weeds. From what I’ve read the Image with Atrazine will only surpress crabgrass not control (does that mean kill) it and supposedly its safe with St Augustine.

First: From what I’ve read Image with Atrazine will not control crabgrass only surpress it. The regular Image will control it (does that mean kill it?) A few days ago I e-mailed the manufacturer as to when to apply it and received the following response: “Image-Kills Nutsedge CANNOT be applied to St. Augustinegrass at this time. It can only be applied when the grass is actively growing or injury to the grass may result. If Image is applied during the growingseason you would need to wait a minimum of 6 weeks after application before seeding, sodding, or plugging. If new sod is installed you would need to wait until the grass is thoroughly established/rooted in before applying Image
Accordingly I’m waiting til mid-Spring before I apply it.

I have been reluctant to use image as I have neighbors who have had major yellowing and in one case death to his st. augustine. I know yellowing is expected and I can’t swear to their proper use.
Crabgrass has been a major pain to control. As most know, over-the-counter we dont have a good product to kill it. Others have suggested baking soda with water which does work however it damaged my st. augustine as well.
This season I am trying a preemergent and I will see how well it works. That combined with my diligent hand weeding hopefully will help control things.
In short, I would be wary of a product like that described for fear it will damage the turf. If using it, I would definitely use in an inconspicuous area first and see how it goes.
Dollarweed is generally easily controlled (relatively speaking) with atrazine – even the amount in general weed n feed fertilizers. (I’m a big fan of Lesco).
I keep my current lawn plan up to date on my site (www.tampaturfcare.com) – I obviously live in Tampa!
