I just had jamur installed in my yard (2 weeks ago) and I just realized that they did not put down any lime or ferti under the sod. I have been watering it the way they told me. Should I spread lime now and wait till april for ferti?
ThanksJohny

No need to spread lime unless your soil is off. No need to put fertilizer in the soil before either.
Get a soil sample at your county extension. You can probably find their instructions on how to do so on their website.
Read my posts about Alfalfa pellets. It’s great stuff.

Thanks for the relieving answer.. Now when should I lay down some AlF? Plus I keep reading about people layering Black Cow over struggling areas.. Does this mean that They just rake it in over the top of a bad area??
THANKSJohny

Whenever you want. The more the better but not too much at 1 time or it’ll expand and suffocate the grass.
Compost adds beneficial microbes to the soil. They say it’s good stuff but I’m curious if they can even survive in my sandy hot soil that dries out every day. I have no experience with compost but am thinking about having some blown out on the lawn this year.
Look up compost tea on google and youtube. I don’t know if it’s all real but even Harvard univ uses it and there’s some amazing results.

I’ve used Black Kow and it really works wonders. I am currently dealing with a small area in my lawn where it is not holding water at all. In this type of situation, Black Kow won’t work. I got some premium top soil that is mixed with compost and it seems to be working pretty well. Also, like mrmumbels said, make sure you do not put down too much alfalfa or you will suffocate the grass. I got a little crazy with the stuff myself and it ended up turning areas brown. Luckily Zoysia tends to repair itself better than any other grass I have dealt with.

thanks for that.. gonna put a couple of bags of black cow on my shopping list.. As for the Alfalfa, I decided that on my watering days (in between my moving the sprinkler) I will run the alf through a food processor to make it small enough to go into a spreader.. Sunds like a rime consumer but when u are legally blind.. well what else do i have to do?
ThanksJ
Thanks
