Winter Overseeding

I would like to get some information or advice as to what we should be overseeding our football field with for the winter season. We are located on the East side of Atlanta, GA. The local county maintenance division has been overseeding with winter rye which has done nothing in regard to improving the condition of the field. In fact, it appears to have casued more problems than improvements when spring arrives. Can you help me with some suggestions. Keep in mind that the soccer team uses the field from Feb to April. So whatever we use must be able to withstand some traffic. We have 5 home games during the soccer season so it won’t be a constant traffic wear problem. Thanks in advance for your advice.
