when to spread sand over st. augustine

i’ve got some tire ruts through the middle of this yard, need to fill them in with something. any suggestions…? thank you!

sand, compost…..anything that won’t compact too much.

Compost would be better as you will be adding beneficial organisms to the soil while filling. Just remember that if you have grass in the ruts, add only a 1/2 at a time so as not to smother the grass.

I agree with Aaron. Compost and keep moist.
Seeding or plugs are helpful as well. Depends on where you live though, as Octoberis here.

Compost will disappear and ruts will be back if they’re deep enough.
Try core aerating and sweep plugs into rut area then cover with compost. Overseed with winter grass depending on where you live. I would think those area would be compacted anyway.
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
