I live in Bastrop, Tx and have a pitiful yard. I am wanting to seed it but don’t know what is the best grass to seed with.Half of the yard is full sun’ and the other half is shaded with pine trees with a soil pH of 6.5-7.0 Any help would be appreciated.

Not many grasses will grow under shade and under pine trees. My parents have centipede up in Alabama but even it struggles. Seeding under the pines will be very tough in my opinion.
You might consider Empire zoysia but have to get sod (you can make plugs your self). Can’t say if seeding zoysia under shade will work or not.

Hi,
In choosing a turf variety, you need to consider different factors – local climate, location, availability of topsoil are just to name a few. Here’s a link to a quick guide on turf selection: http://www.greenlifeturf.com.au/guide.html, You can decide on which type to grow based on their characteristics. Hope this helps!
