What Now? (New Zoysiz)
LittleLawn – posted 18 July 2007 15:31
I just put down about 1000 sq. ft. of Zoysia in my front yard. It’s on a new bed of a good sandy soil to which I added a fine layer of topsoil. I’ve been giving it lots of water, and will cont. to do so as per instructions for the first 3 weeks. So far so good – a piece I pulled up after a week already had roots at least one inch into the soil and the grass is a dark green.
Now what? Have I missed anything? Should I use a starter fertilizer?
Also, when laying the sod I discovered a red ant colony (not to mention the hundreds of spiders, crickets, etc). How soon can I spray a pesticide on my new lawn w/o damaging it? What product(s) are ok/not ok to use on Zoysia?
Lastly, what sort of monthly/yearly/seasonal upkeep should I do to keep this new investment in good shape?
Thanks.
