Weeds!! What’s safe to use around a dog?

I also put this in the Pets area. Please excuse the double post in the forum, but we’re getting desperate.

Our weeds are out of control and traveling to the neighbors yard. They’re upset and I can’t blame them. We tried using a lawn care service who sprayed. They assured us their product would be safe for the dog, but she got sick and we cancelled the service. The weeds are getting worse and we need something that will be safe to use. A co-worker has the same problem and is using Ringer fertilizer and grass seed with the theory that it will choke out the weeds. He thinks he’s having good success with it. I’ve been wondering about Cockadoodle DOO products for lawn care. They claim to be safe for pets, even the weed control. Is anyone familiar with them?(We live the in the Chicagoland area, so we have the Midwest climate.)

You did not say what type grass so I can’t recommend a specific product.

I would spot spray the weeds with herbicide, wait an hour, then irrigate your lawn with about 1/2 inch of water. Wait about 30 minutes to an hour and then it should be fine to let your pup out.

Best of luck to you.

Herbicides take from one to six hours to become rain-fast and waiting longer is better. If you treat wait to spray ’til dusk and allow to dry overnight. Then water and allow to completely dry before allowing children or pets onto the lawn.http://www.afschem.com/Pictures/Rainfast%20-%20Herbicide.pdf
