Hi We live in Southern California, and we just planted St Agustine grass. We removed prior grass bermuda. But as St. agustine Grass in spreading, a lot of weeds are also grwoing which I belive is Crab grass. What are we doing wrong here? We water it everyday, what can we do to get rid of these weeds and have our grass grow faster. Do we add fertilizer? What kind? Please help us out!!!!!!!!!

Well I live in So.Cal as well, and added St. Augustine last year. The first year you will probably get weeds, crabgrass etc. I didnt add any chemicals or sprays. I just manually went around and pulled the weeds and crabgrass from the roots. Pretty much the 1st year every week I would walk out and check around for any new weed growth and then pull. One year later now and there are no more weeds. I might of had one or two towards the edge that faces the street. You will get a few here and there because the seeds will travel and might land in the dirt.
