Wanna ditch Trugreen

I live in Orlando and have st Augustine grass. I have Trugreen and am not happy with them. I’ve gone back and fourth with them about what I want and how green I want my grass but to no avail. The grass isn’t bad its semi green and thick but doesn,t look much better then the neighbors who really don’t do antthing to theirs. and I pay a small fortune for it.
I would like to take care of the grass myself but don’t have much experience. I know I need to start with a soil test. My question is does anyone have a step by step guide to fertizing as far as what and when. I looked on the web but haven’t found much.
Thanks
Matt

Be careful there is a lot more to taking care of st augustine than how green you make it. This is not the time of year to apply much fertilizer. Your lawn should have a good color this time of year and should of been dark green in the winter and spring. Look for them to green it up to your liking by October. From november thru late april you should be happy with the color. If this is not the case USE A LOCAL COMPANY THAT CAN!!
