violets in lawn

For years we have been plagued with violet weeds in our lawn. We have been trying to avoid herbicides, but we finally had to try one, so we have used Weed Be Gone for two seasons. It kills other weeds but not violets. Our landscaper used another harsher one (not sure of name), no luck. Any suggestions? (We have thick turf and we mow high.) We’re in Maine.

A weed killer with triclopyr will work. Either Ortho Poison Ivy and Brush Killer or Ortho Chickweed and Clover killer.

Thank you! Your timing is exquisite. I just looked out the window a couple hours ago and saw the first batch of violets blooming and wrote myself a reminder to find “poison” for the violets. Anne
