You are in the golf course business and looking to cut costs???? Ummm..You’ll have a lot of problems with that. The best way to cut cost for topdressing is to use a local sand provider. You should have plenty of sand nearby out there. The biggest question is why in the world you would want to worry about topdressing your greens at such a young age? I don’t know what cultivar you are growing but I would think that you are asking for trouble if you open too soon. You could lose your greens! I think that you should get in touch with the GCSAA for further help. I’m a GCSAA member but I only come into this room to help people in my region. Sorry.
