Too much weed killer?
Janus – posted 24 March 2005 16:08
My wife decided to kill the weeds in our lawn and applied weed killer to it. Four days later, everywhere where she applied the stuff, the lawn is brown, like burnt. Is it dead? What on earth could have happened?Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. My wife tells me the brand was ROUNDUP and she mixed 6 – 7 soup spoons in what she estimated to be 10 liters of water. We believe the grass is bermuda. Sorry I cannot be more precise.

now we’re getting somewhere… roundup is a non selective weed killer, meaning it will kill everything in it’s path, including bermuda. weed i.d. is crucial, if you want to post some pics we can help. there’s also weedalert.com for i.d. problems. the good news is that this early in the season your bermuda should grow out of it, provided the damage isn’t too bad.

i’m also taking an educated guess that you had broadleaf weeds this early in the season. try 24d mix such as weed be gone. or better yet, hire a pro in your area. see plcaa.org
