My sister has a common zoysia lawn which was doing quite well.
over the last 6 months(rainy season) it was over run by earthworms, a bucket of soapy water would bring up at least 30 in a couple square feet in the night.
the worms made the soil very spongy and easily damaged in the areas with foot traffic.
now that it is drier those areas have now dried and the soil is the consistency of a fine compost sort of like promix, it drains very fastit is very loose just like dry promix and the grass is loose and not taking good hold anymore there.
Any suggestions for these loose areas ?Should we try and cut down the worm population ?

Most people want earthworms in the lawn. It keeps soil from compacting (free aeration), reduces thatch, and helps a bit with fertilization (not a lot, but a little).
Next time there is a good rain, collect the worms and sell them for fishbait.
Or, you can spray with an insecticide and that will kill a good many of them.
Personally I like earthworms in my lawn.
