Is it better to plant sod or sprigs for backyard putting green? If planting sprigs how long does it take before you can use?

Sod would give you the greatest chance of success, but of course its much more expensive. Sprigs will work out ok if they are not allowed to dry out early on. Make sure they are covered with a 1/2 inch of organic top dressing. (peat, forrest mulch, etc.) and apply starter fertilizer for both sod or sprigs. Sprigs can establish very quickly in warm weather, somtimes a very good cover in one month.

Thanks Tommy ! Did not check the cost of sprigs however, the sod is $85/pallet and I will need 1 & 1/2 pallets. Will be putting down this week so with a little luck we shall see. Have been doing my homework for over a year and just wanted to make sure.
