Tif 419

We have recently built a new home and are having a lawn installed. The plan is to sod Tif 419 we are located between Lubbock and Abilene, Tx. My concern is the timing (onset of winter). We have been told that Tif is a good selection and should be fine to plant as long as it is sod. We do have a sprinkler system so watering should not be an issue and currently there is no other grass or weeds to compete against. Any suggestions or concerns? Is this a wise choice in grass for this time of year?
