Where are you located? Soil types and what quality? Seeding or sodding? Irrigation system or hose and sprinkler? Seed/sod preferences? Intended uses? Kids/sports or just good looks? All effect the way to go about the task.
Good Luck……………..

when and if you get your soil tested see if they provide a CEC test. This is important for the soils ability to Fix/retain nutrients.

is there a kit that i can do this myself..i seen the tests for the acidity of the soil..but im not familiar with the cec test…ill look online in the meantime. and if i have a good rate of CEC will the use of roundup on the existing weeds affect the soils ability to retain nutrients?

The do it your self method isnt nearly as good as your extensoin office. I dont think there is a do it yourself kit for the CEC. If you are in a hurry you might purchase a digital PH meter from www.rittenhouse.caI’m not sure what your soil texture or structure is like but in the absense of a soil test use a fert with a low middle number. if your soil is classified a sandy soil it wont matter much because all of your nutrients will be leached away.
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
