I currently maintain the stadium football feild at the local high school. The turf is a Bermuda 419 and sports tift mix. Next spring, I would like to overseed along with the sprigging. I have been told that hybrid 419 cannot be bought in seed form. Well I figure that the growers must have it. Is there a way to purchase some 419? Also, as the season is winding down, I would like to be able to keep the turf as green as I can for atleast another month. The temps are in the high 80’s during the day. What fertilizer should I use.

Thanks in advance.

Where might you be located at? Here in the Pinehurst area of N.C. we buy ours from Sandhills Turf in Candor, N.C. But any reptuable sod farm should have it near you.

Located in the Stone Mountain area of Atlanta. Thanks so much, I will look up sod farms. Any info regarding the fertilization part of my question?

Thanks again,

In NC I keep my 419 green by staying with the regular fertilizer – high N, mowing it lower to account for the lower levels and hours of sunlight (dopwn to 7/16ths), add some Iron, and hit it with Total Turf about once every 10 days. Generally hangs in there until close to Thanksgiving.

Thanks so much,

Just exactly the information I needed. I was thinking high nitrogen and some iron and was not sure about lowering or raising the heigth of the cut. I appreciate the information.
