St Augustine turned yellow

Found this site today after looking for some help. I have St Augustine grass which was perfect until the last 2 months. On one side of my house the grass is patchy yellow and has thinned out to bare spots. I have been using lesco products for about one year now and also use spectacide granulet to kill bugs. I look through the grass and I see thinning big time and it’s almost florescent yellow in color. It doesn’t seem to be growing back as fast as the rest of the yard. Whats the best way to diagnos this problem any help would be awesome. Thanks

The yellow you are seeing may be an iron defiency common this time of year. The thining may not be related. Best to know what is causing something before treating. If any of you are in south west Florida I would be willing to look at your problem for you.

Hey thanks guys for the response. It has been raining in Tampa alot lately but before the rain started like a month ago my grass was already turning yellow. My irragation was set for every day due to the very dry weather we were having Could this be the problem. Also were would be the best spot in the tampa area to get the grass checked. I had lesco do a soil sample and they said the iron level was low so I treated it with 9-0-24 last week. But there not sure if thats my problem.

You are a little far north for me im in sarasota. What I would do is call three local companies and see what they say. If you like one of them then let them fix the problem. It is normaly cheaper that way and better for the enviroment because their wont be any trial and error. At least you will get some advice and its free.
