My usually perfect lawn guy cut my beautiful St. Augustine too low yesterday and it looks awful! I haven’t seen it look this bad in years so it took me a while to figure out what was wrong with it. What can I do to protect it and help it heal from this abuse. I love my lawn and don’t want it to die!

Thanks in advance for your help!

As a layman I would suggest keeping it watered so the heat doesn’t burn it. The good thing is SA is growing fast now and it should recover quickly – perhaps a couple of weeks.

I know everyone says to water in the early morning but I think that’s more of a water saving tip. I would water it lightly once in the late morning just as the heat gets going and then again in the late afternoon around 5 or 6 to keep the grass cool and moist.

Perhaps Phil will see your post and respond as well.

Thanks Spriteman for your reply! I will try this and hope for the best. I can already see a couple of parched, brown patches showing up. Hopefully they will fill in. So sad…
