St. Augustine brown thatchy issues

Located in Bradenton, FL, my St. Augustine grass is becoming brown thatch. After using insecticides and disease products to no avail, weed and feed, to no avail, I replaced my front last fall. After a very cold winter, it did fine, and now the brown thatch is back. In my backyard, is is taking over.In the midst of the thatchy mess, there is dollarweed, nutsedge, and other grasses taking over. I pulled up a lot of the dead stuff and I find mold. What to do?
