St. Augestine meets Amatuer
AMATUER LAWNERS – posted 20 April 2004 13:33
Here is my story…………….Me and My husband recently purchased our first home, and along with the new home came a lawn. Growing up in Chicago I had never been exposed to lawn care or landscaping. Well let me get to the point…………We moved into the house in early Nov 2003. We started off by watering the grass daily for a few weeks, but in the Dec, Jan and Feb. we stopped watering every day and just watered twice a week. My husband went to the great Home Depot and asked for some suggestions for fertilizer. He ended up buying a starter fertilizer (NOT TURF BUILDER) from Scotts. It has been a couple of weeks and our grass looks worse then ever, we have ALOT of bald spots and our grass is very, very, thin. Now it was like that before the fertilizer, so I don’t think the fertilizer did it, but it did not help it either. A friend of ours suggested putting sand on the bald spots and watering it. We did that and still nothing. Our friend also highly recommended TURF BUILD by Scotts, but an employee at Home Depot said no. We are sooooooooooooooooo confused and sooooooooooooooo desperate for help. Is there any one out there that can help 2 LAWN AMATUERS????

Honey, you may want to suck it up and call in a professional while you figure this out. It’s awfully expensive to re-sod an entire lawn. How much traffic is your lawn receiving? Big dog, kids etc? How about shade? All this makes a big difference.
