Snails Everywhere

I recently bought a house in Miami with extensive array of plant life. I have noticed small snails everywhere – and I mean everywhere! They are in the ground, roots and trunk of my hibiscus as well as other flowering plants, the names of which I am not sure. Any suggestions?

Back before I started using organic materials I bought a bag of ammonium sulfate fertilizer to use against snails. I broadcast it one time and never saw another snail for years. Ammonium sulfate looks like rock salt and has the same effect on the snails. They can’t move an inch before they’re bubbling all over the place.

Your local garden center will have “slug and snail bait” available. It usually comes in a 5-10 pound bag for a reasonable cost. As with any pest control product, read and follow the directions on the bag.
