Over the last several years we watched a sink hole devolop in the middle of the front yard. It has now grown to about 12′ across and sunk down about a foot in the center. The grass is mature and very healthy with the aid of the sprinkler system. We’ve had afternoon rains in Atlanta that had help the grass grow but have aided in the sink hole. I really would like to get a sod cutter and peel back the grass and bring in a good sandy clay fill. Is this warm season the wrong time to do this? I like to do it now so that the sod has a chance to reattach. What’cha think?

The above grass is a emerald zoysia.

I have a small area of emerald zoysia. It’s not too late to do it now since it goes dormant around November in Atlanta area.

My first reaction was level it with sod and sell that place! 😛

Sinkholes in fl mean the limstone below is breaking away and your house is about to fall into the aquifer

I was thinking about this again. You have a sinkhole in your front yard and you’re worried about your grass?

Atlanta sinkholes must be different.

My house is twenty years old and the builders use to be able to bury the construction trash. This is a trash sink hole from many years ago.
