shaping my lawn/grass

i have a big front lawn, and i want to shape it into an oval, circular, island type shape. but the problem is, I HAVE NO IDEA how to shape it! or what tools to use. HELP? please!

Sounds like a labor-intensive job. Here is what I would do:1. Layout the shape you want to “save’ with a garden hose.2. Cut along the hose with an edger or spade. Cut as deep (>3”) as you can.3. Cut (with a rented sod cutter) “unwanted grass. Transfer sod to another area OR4 Dig or roto-till unwanted grass and add to compost.
