Will St. Augustine Delmar do really good in shady areas. I have alot of trees(maple, locust, and mulberry) and I have alot of patches underneath them. I’m looking for a grass that will grow under them and this looks the best.

St Augustine needs at a minimum 2 hours of full sun, or dappled shade the entire day to thrive. If you have less than this, be aware the St Augustine will be very slow to spread and cover.

One option is to prune the trees so the St Augustine will get the needed sun exposure. If you try St Augustine and it doesn’t cover – your best bet will be to use a ground cover instead.
