i live in the birmingham area and wanted to plant z-52 in a shaded area will it work and how much area does a pallet of sod cover.

TMAN4UA, whether Z-52 zoysiagrass will work for you in the shade depends on how shady is shady, and what other factors are going on.
A simple measurement of the shade can be done with a single-lens reflex camera, with some kind of readout scale or even just a needle indicator, or a detached light meter.http://www.floridaturf.com/staugust/shade.htm
