Sand Burrs

I have sand burrs in my lawn and I would like info on how eradicate them. It seems that the more we dig them up, the faster they replace themselves.

rwillett, normally sandbur only spreads in areas that are dry and where the turf cover is thin. Usually a few months of irrigation and mowing will make them go away. Depending on what type of turf you are growing, it may be appropriate to fertilize it now to help it spread. If you are digging up the sandburs that is very good to keep the burrs from falling to the ground and germinating. A large plastic bag or a bucket would be for collecting the whole plants with burrs attached, and disposing them in the compost. Phil
