Sahara vs panama burmuda
aiannar974 – posted 28 April 2012 08:45
Hello – I purchased some panama burmuda seed and decided to have it hydromulched. I decided to do a larger part of the lawn also and I do not have enough for the whole lawn and the hydromulch company is recommending to do the rest with sahara. What are the differences in these grasses. Should I try to get more panama or maybe even something else like triangle or yukon?
Thank you,
Anthony

Sahara is a first generation type, and not as good as Bermuda Triangle, Yukon, Panama, etc. I do not recommend using Sahara.

Much depends on where you live. Many people, including sod farmers, on bestlawn.com, recommend a mix of Yukon and Rivera.
As Tommy says, Sahara is one to stay away from. They sell it at just about every Lowe’s, no matter where they are. That ought to tell you something.
Take a look at NTEP also for some ideas

Yep, Sahara was the first improved, seeded bermuda type , but its not much of an improvement over common bermuda. I can’t believe they are still selling it !
