I used some contractors rye in my back yard for duarability with my kids playing on it and it has now spread out into my soded front lawn and it looks AWFUL! What can I do, it stands out like a sore thumb. I have been reading that it dies in the summer, is that true? Any suggestions?

depending on where you live, rye grass can dye. if you live where it maintains above 85 degrees in the summer, you can pretty much consider it gone.

Agree. You can also kill it with atrazine but this will brown your Bermuda – so try a very light application if you decide to try it.

You can also cut the lawn more frequently to reduce shading by the grass itself. This helps increase the soil temp and kill the rye grass.

Lastly, this winter when your bermuda is dormant you can spray it with either roundup or atrazine and kill the rye grass. Just make sure your Bermuda is truly dormant before using roundup. And dont use Roundup now or you will kill the entire lawn.
