Progressively replace Bahia with Bermuda?

Hello we’ve recently moved into a home with 7yo contractor grade bahia grass. It doesn’t look bad, but you know! I can’t afford turf as it’s approx. 12,000 sq. feet of lawn out there.
Do I have to round-up, till under the existing lawn and seed? Or can I mow the Bahia low, bag the clippings and seed in Burmuda?
Along those lines, I read somewhere that there’s a bahia selective herbacide out there. If anyone can remember the name I’d appreciate it.

‘Blade’ herbicide is probably the best, but I think its only available to commercial contractors. Crabgrass killer will also do a good job, but you may have to spray it 3 times a year,(spring, early summer, late summer). Go ahead and seed bermuda into the Bahia, but wait 6 weeks before you apply crabgrass killer.

Agree, just seed in bermuda and this spring you can use any of many herbicides to kill the bahia. Best bet for crabgrass is to put down a good pre-emergent this spring (probably put it down early in the year and then again in about 2 months).
Best of luck to you.
