Bermuda too high – How can I fix?

We have a 1 year old Bermuda lawn which was started from sod. Currently we have been mowing it to a minimum height of 3 -4 inches (obviously too high) and I need to know the best way to get it back to the right height. Is it as simple as just scalping it back in early fall and then keeping to a 2x per week mowing schedule with a 1.5″ target height?
Any help is appreciated.

Yep, bermuda can handle that type of abuse! Mid Sept. is a good time to scalp for most areas. Bermuda which is to be winter seeded, will be scalped from Oct.1 to Nov.1 depending on the climate zone.
