Preventing turfgrass from going to seed

What is the name of the chemical that golf courses use to prevent grass from going to seed? I want to eliminate the possibility of getting the stiff stems from showing up in my lawn that are a result of the grass going to seed.

It is called Constant mowing …. it doesn’t have a chance to go to seed
