I have terrible grass right now. Have no idea what kind. Removed a tree so lots of bare spots. Lots of sun now. I want to place zoysia sod down. Tell me what I need to do and then how to maintain for the next year.

I sodded my whole yard with EL Toro Zoysia. All you need to do is make sure your yard is the way you want it. Meaning, is it leveled. Zoysia will grow just about in any type of soil,clay,sand,rocks and so on. Zoysia is very low maintances.
